The Palio di Casole d'Elsa is a horse race, mounted by jockeys, held, every year, the 2nd Sunday in July at 18.30 hours in honor of San Isidoro. The race is gareggiata on a track made up of gravel, climbing over several climbs in order to make the race even more difficult. This kind of prize is called the "Roman" or "prize along" that has a starting point different from that of arrival and then do as the Palio of Siena. During the previous week are conducted evenings of parties and dinners in the quarters. In total the contrada participating 6 quarters, which correspond to its territorial divisions: Rivellino, Pievalle, Countryside, Merlo, Cavallano, Monteguidi. Furthermore fall also for the different colors and badges that identify them. The winner of the Palio, is awarded to 19.30, through the delivery of drappellone, which generally is a banner created by artists specially assigned personnel.
